Plymouth residents will have one last chance to learn about a referendum question on their November ballots.
The City of Plymouth is hosting its final public safety referendum information session tomorrow (October 29th) at 8:00 a.m. at Generations, located at 1500 Douglas Drive.
On August 24th, the Plymouth Common Council voted to place the question on the ballot, asking residents whether they support a permanent $600,000 increase to their annual property taxes.
These increased property taxes would pave the way for the Plymouth Police Department to add three patrol officers to its ranks, give current staff a raise, and purchase two additional squad cars.
The department and the City note that they feel these additions are necessary, as the number of officers in the City has not increased since 1997 despite a growing population in the time since.
The choice will be left to Plymouth residents on November 3rd.
