Manitowoc Lutheran freshman Phil Melso is heading to the WIAA State Cross Country Championships next Saturday (October 31st) in Wisconsin Rapids.
Coach Abby Bubolz tells seehafernews.com that Phil placed 10th overall in a WIAA Division Three Sectional Meet held today at Sheboygan Lutheran High School and qualified as one of the top five individuals from a state non-qualifying team.
The Lancers just missed qualifying as a team by four points, placing third in the 24-team field.
Five boys placed in the top 30 and seven in the top 39. Only the top two teams make it to state.
Meanwhile, the Lancer girls placed eighth, led by sophomore Temperance Farmer, who finished 27th.
