The Manitowoc County Health Department has a couple of precautions people can take to prevent getting sick this winter.
Their first tip is to wash your hands often, especially before eating and after coughing or sneezing.
The second is to cover all coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your elbow to prevent the spread of germs.
Their third tip is to stay at home when you’re sick. Resting will speed up recovery and not spread your illness to others.
Getting enough sleep, eating well, staying active, and drinking fluids are great ways to prevent illness.
Their final tip is to make sure all of your vaccinations are up to date.
Every school or daycare will have a different set of rules regarding children being sick, so it is good to know the guidelines for your childcare facility.
It is also good to know when to visit a doctor; if you experience trouble breathing, chest pain, confusion, or symptoms that are continually worsening, seek medical attention immediately.
