The Winter Disconnection Moratorium is just over a week away, but those behind on their bills are receiving a warning.
Manitowoc Public Utilities explained that while state law prohibits utilities from disconnecting essential services to residential customers during the moratorium period, “utilities are not required to restore service for those disconnected prior to the moratorium without appropriate arrangements in place.”
Two Rivers Utilities echoed the explanation to residents in the Cool City, encouraging customers to make sure they have a plan in place to make sure their power isn’t shut off.
MPU customers behind on their bills are asked to stop into their office on South 8th Street, or call 920-683-4600.
Two Rivers residents can call 920-793-5523 between 7:30 and 5:00 Monday through Thursday or 7:30 to 11L30 a.m. on
Fridays. Additional energy assistance information is available at MPU.org and at Partners4CD.com.
