A box truck caught fire in Fond du Lac County yesterday (October 21st).
The Fond du Lac County Communications Center received a 911 call just before 2:00 p.m. reporting the truck on fire in the northbound lanes of I-41 near mile marker 90.
A deputy with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office was first on scene in the Town of Byron and reported that the truck was fully engulfed in flames.
The northbound side of I-41 was completely closed off, and a detour was implemented while firefighters from Brownsville and Lomira attacked the inferno.
The truck and its contents were considered a total loss, but it is not being considered suspicious at this time.
Chunks of melted metal had dripped onto the roadway, which had to be removed before it could be reopened, which happened just before 6:00 p.m.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
