The Oshkosh Police Department has released drone footage from a chase involving a suspect.
Officers were called to the 400 block of Westhaven Drive just after noon yesterday (October 20th) on a report of a suspicious vehicle.
When the officers attempted to make contact with the male driver, he fled on foot into a wooded area.
A perimeter was quickly established, and a drone with an infrared camera was deployed.
The drone’s camera helped officers search the area and successfully kept track of his continued attempts to evade the officers. The man was eventually taken into custody without further incident.
His name was not released, nor were the charges he faces.
The full video can be found on the Oshkosh Police Department Facebook page.
The Department noted, “The incident demonstrates the value of drone technology as an important public-safety tool. By providing officers with real-time aerial awareness, the drone helped locate and track the suspect efficiently, improved coordination among responding officers, and keep our community safe.”
