A senior, representing Roncalli/Two Rivers fell just short in her fourth trip to the WIAA Individual Girls State Championships.
Senior Megan Lamers, representing Roncalli/Two Rivers, lost a thrilling three-set opening-round match to senior Risa Miura of Madison Memorial, 6-3, 3-6, 10-7, in the Division One Bracket of the WIAA State Individual Girls State Tennis Tournament yesterday (October 15th) in Madison.
Her coach and mother Kristin Lamers tells seehafernews.com that Megan left nothing left to chance.
“She left it all out there and played very well,” she said. “It was a very good and competitive match. Afterwards the Madison Memorial coach came over to compliment Megan on her game. It was awesome to see these two girls compete and leave it all out there on the court.”
A huge contingent of family and friends made the trip to Madison to watch her play.
It wasn’t the result they wanted, but an emotional mother adds, “It’s something that I will cherish forever. I’m super proud of her and I’m so very proud of both my kids.”
She refers to her oldest daughter, Madison, who played with her sister at state twice in doubles.
Megan finishes an outstanding career, having qualified for state all four years of high school, and ends her senior season with a record of 19-11.
