A unique business has moved one step closer to approval in Sheboygan.
On Tuesday (October 13th), the City Plan Commission unanimously approved a conditional use permit (CUP) for the construction and operation of a hybrid gas station, restaurant, and postal store at the corner of North 15th Street and Geele Avenue.
The site is currently a vacant lot but was the former home of Select Auto Shop.
In the CUP application, the applicant notes that this proposed project aligns with the City’s Comprehensive Plan in two ways: the 15th Street corridor was identified as a target area for commercial development and the redevelopment of vacant and abandoned sites in Sheboygan.
The hybrid convenience store is projected to cost approximately $1.5 million to complete, but construction may not start until the CUP receives full approval by the Sheboygan Common Council at a later date.
Plans for the project can be found in the City Plan Commission’s Tuesday agenda.
