Students at Lowell Elementary School in Waukesha are learning in different classrooms after bedbugs were spotted in two areas of the building.
Waukesha School District officials are evaluating the situation to determine next steps while working with licensed pest control specialists.
School leaders reassured parents that bedbugs do not spread disease, though they can cause itchy bites and easily hitch a ride on backpacks or clothing.
Families were asked yesterday to inspect their children’s belongings before and after school while administrators monitor the issue.
