A Green Bay woman is facing charges after she allegedly left her infant child inside a car.
NBC26 reports that police were called to the Walmart on West Mason Street at around 2:30 Monday afternoon (October 12th) after a passerby spotted an infant in a vehicle with the windows rolled up.
The high temperature in Green Bay that day was reported to be 81 degrees, which means the temperature inside the car could have reached as high as 120 degrees.
The witness claimed the child was soaked in sweat, appeared red, and was crying.
Two other people opened the unlocked door and brought the child into their air-conditioned vehicles while medical teams arrived.
The 4-month-old infant was treated for heat exhaustion at a local hospital.
The child’s mother, 25-year-old Selena Buckner, told police she thought her trip inside was going to be short, but it allegedly lasted more than 50 minutes.
She appeared in Brown County Court on Tuesday, where she was officially charged with Neglecting a Child and Resisting or Obstructing an Officer, both of which had repeater modifiers.
