Organizers will be gathering around Eastern Wisconsin this weekend to urge the public to vote early.
No Kings: Vote Early events will be held around the country, and locally, on Saturday (October 17th) in a “day of nonpartisan voter participation, being in the community with each other, and making sure every eligible voter has a plan, knows their options, and is ready to make their voice count.”
Manitowoc’s No Kings: Vote Early event will be held at Washington Park from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., featuring numerous speakers, music from the Raging Grannies, and individuals coming together to encourage the public’s civic duty of voting.
On why these rallies are necessary, No Kings explained, “Efforts to undermine trust in our elections and make it harder for people to be heard are happening across the country right now. Our democracy depends on every eligible voter having the freedom to participate without intimidation, interference, or barriers.”
Other nearby rallies will also be held in Green Bay, Appleton, Oshkosh, Algoma, and Fond du Lac.
As always, No Kings added, “A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action…Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.”
