A trial 8 years in the making will finally begin today.
56-year-old Timothy Hauschultz will be in front of Calumet County Judge Carey Reed inside the Manitowoc County Courthouse this morning for the start of a two-week trial.
Hauschultz is facing charges of Neglecting a Child Consequence is Death and Intentionally Contributing to the Delinquency of a Child Resulting in Death for the 2018 death of his great-nephew, 7-year-old Ethan Hauschultz.
His case had been delayed for years due to ongoing legal proceedings for Damian Hauschultz, who was convicted for implementing a punishment that included carrying a heavy log around the yard in the middle of winter and burying him in the snow.
Timothy is accused of telling Damian to enforce the punishment. Timothy’s wife, Tina McKeever-Hauschultz was previously convicted and served a five-year prison sentence, which came to an end in January of 2024.
Damian was convicted in 2021 and ordered to spend 20 years in prison.
He is expected to testify in Timothy’s case, but due to his continued appeals, the case was delayed multiple times.
We were able to speak with Ethan’s mother, Andrea Everett, last year, and she criticized the family for not taking accountability.
While these two weeks will likely be very emotional for her, she told us at the time, “I’ll just be happy when I can finally say that justice has been served for my son.”
