A director at Above & Beyond in Sheboygan has been featured in an international children’s museum magazine.
Above & Beyond’s Director of Education and Community Programming, Leah Maren, was the subject of an article in the Association of Children’s Museums Hand to Hand Magazine, discussing family math learning and nurturing early numeracy and math literacy through play.
When speaking with Hand to Hand about the math-centric programming offered at Above & Beyond, Maren noted, “Seeing families become excited about the mathematical thinking embedded in everyday play has reinforced the importance of making those connections visible and accessible. This work has reminded us that building confidence can be just as impactful as building skills.”
While the article featured Maren, the Children’s Museum made sure to recognize its entire education team, including Brianna Born, Farah Soetaert, and Chloe Hanson, for “facilitating this work with Leah and the Simons Foundation for partnering with children’s museums across the county to nurture numeracy learning.”
