A conservative hunting organization event in Green Bay included a famous, outspoken, late-seventies rock star.
Hunter Nation hosted the event at the Epic Events Center to encourage hunters to get out to vote after the group said previously that licensed hunters weren’t going as they should.
Founder and CEO Keith Mark brought Ted Nugent, the writer of songs like Stranglehold and Cat Scratch Fever, to the stage for him to speak about his beliefs and why hunters need to vote in the November election.
Nugent told the audience that, to him, most hunters are good Christians, constitutional conservatives who need to be at the polls.
The singer and Mark also warned attendees of what they described as an extreme liberal agenda that would come if Democrats like David Crowley would win Wisconsin’s governor’s race.
Nugent said that’s why hunters need to vote.
“What’s in this room is the fix for America,” he stated. “It’s that simple. So I hope you go forth with a vengeance because the enemy is not at the door, it’s in our face.”
Hunter Nation doesn’t endorse candidates, but Thursday night’s rally shows who the group feels should be elected by whom they brought on stage.
They included Republican candidates like Attorney General Candidate Eric Toney, 1st District State Senate Candidate Nic Cravillion, Secretary of State Candidate Jay Schroeder, and 90th Assembly District Candidate Jessica Henderson.
Nugent also strongly endorsed Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Tom Tiffany, calling him a commonsense candidate.
Nugent listed, “He is a real Republican, God, family, country, constitution, Bill of Rights, the 10 commandments, golden rule, law and order, work ethic, good over evil, self-defense.”
Nugent would finish his time playing a rendition of his song Fred Bear” before Colonial Allan West spoke about veterans getting out to vote.
Another part of the Hunter Nation rally was talking about a bill allowing Wisconsin hunters to hunt wolves.
The organization believes the Wisconsin DNR is preventing hunters from having a hunt since the population has continued to grow.
Once he arrived, Congressman Tiffany said it will take people who will stand up for hunters to get them a wolf hunt.
“I’m really just following people out there that they know what needs to get done,” he stated. “And we just need to provide the leadership to make that happen. And I can just tell you that as governor, we’re going to get control of wolves one way or another.”
The event wasn’t without some pushback as there were protesters outside the Epic Events Center chanting against Donald Trump and the MAGA movement.
The Hunter Nation event had some members of the Manitowoc County Unit of Fish and Game who attended as well.
