A state lawsuit challenging the use of license-plate reading Flock cameras in Waukesha County is moving to federal court.
Attorneys representing 12 local municipalities requested the transfer while asking a judge to dismiss the case entirely.
The conservative Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty filed the lawsuit, arguing the tracking cameras violate constitutional privacy rights.
However, defense lawyers maintain that higher courts have repeatedly rejected similar legal challenges against the technology.
Federal judges in Wisconsin’s Eastern District will now oversee the proceedings.
