Local golfers competed in a pair of sectional tournaments yesterday.
In the Hartford Union Division 1 Sectional, Hartford Union and Homestead were the top-performing teams that qualified for the State Tournament, while Sheboygan North finished 6th.
Manitowoc Lincoln had one golfer competing, with Junior Briella Reeves’ 94 good for 23rd place.
Sheboygan North’s top golfer was Senior Allison Klee, whose 89 was good for 16th.
Meanwhile, at the Division 2 Wrightstown Sectional, Seymour and Lake Country Lutheran were the two teams to qualify for the State competition with scores of 341 and 356, respectively.
Wrightstown missed out by three strokes, while Denmark was four strokes behind them, and Kiel tied for 5th with a team score of 371.
However, Kiel’s Callaway Goodman qualified for State as an individual, with her 80 good for 4th place.
Only the top three golfers advance, but they must not be a part of the qualifying team. Since two golfers from Seymour and Lake Country Lutheran were in the top 3, Goodman earned her spot.
The two-day state tournament at University Ridge Golf Course in Verona will begin on Sunday (October 11th) with a practice round, followed by the real deal on Monday and Tuesday.
