A man is facing felony charges after allegedly striking an 11-year-old bicyclist with a van and fleeing the scene in Ozaukee County.
Prosecutors say 37-year-old David Sitar loaded the injured child into his vehicle, dropped him off with his father, and urged the family not to call police before fleeing across state lines.
Authorities later arrested Sitar at an Illinois hotel, where he remains in custody on charges including first-degree reckless injury and hit-and-run causing great bodily harm.
The young boy remains hospitalized in critical condition as the investigation continues.
