The final of four alleged cocaine traffickers has appeared in Manitowoc County court.
44-year-old Rosario Pena was in front of Judge Jerilyn Dietz this week to make her initial appearance as she faces one felony count of Conspiracy to Deliver Cocaine, Over 40 Grams.
At that hearing, Pena and her lawyer waived the reading of the criminal complaint and demanded a preliminary hearing.
Court proceedings for the 44-year-old lagged behind the other three suspects in the case as she waited for legal counsel to be appointed to her via the Public Defender program.
Pena, Jorge Luis Plana-Cotto, Norval Josue Almeyda-Sanchez, and Jael Fernando Cruz-Arroyo have all been charged in the case and are accused of facilitating the transport of cocaine from South America to Puerto Rico and eventually to the Manitowoc area to be sold, mainly to patrons of Van’s Bar.
Pena will next be due in court next Thursday (October 8th) for her preliminary hearing, while the other three suspects are scheduled to appear throughout October as well.
