Lakeland University has received significant grant funding from the federal government.
Lakeland has announced that it has received a $3 million Title III grant from the Department of Education to improve student persistence and degree completion.
This funding comes as one of the largest sums of grant funding the university has ever received in its 164-year history.
Key areas this funding will look to improve include enhanced student advising and peer mentoring, improved career discovery programming, access to employer mentoring, and an expansion of Lakeland’s Cooperative Education pathways.
On the funding, Lakeland President Beth Borgen explained, “As Wisconsin’s only Carnegie Opportunity College and our consistent placement on U.S. News & World Report’s list of schools advancing social mobility for its students demonstrate, removing barriers to a degree is central to our mission. This grant will allow us to make sure more of our students have earlier access to career-connected learning opportunities.”
