Eastern Wisconsin unemployment in August 2026 continues to run higher than the year before.
In Manitowoc County, the non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 3.2% last month, up from 2.8% in August last year.
However, the August 2026 rate was the same as July 2026 at 3.2%.
In Sheboygan County, the unemployment rate stayed about the same from year to year.
It was at 2.9% last month compared to just 2.8% in August 2025. Calumet County’s unemployment rate went up slightly from 2.5% in August last year compared to 2.8% in August this year.
Unemployment in Kewaunee County also went up a tick from 2.5% in August last year compared to 2.6% in August this year.
From year to year in Brown and Outagamie Counties, unemployment went from 2.9% to 3.1%.
Lastly, Door County’s unemployment moved from 2.5% in August last year to 2.7% last month.
Overall, 10 Wisconsin counties saw unemployment rates rise, while unemployment fell in 36 counties and stayed the same in the other 64.
