A FEMA grant will help a local fire station improve its equipment.
The Valders Fire Rescue Department was awarded a $95,000 Assistance to Firefighters Grant to install a new ventilation system at its fire station.
Valders firefighters explain that their system will help reduce exposure to vehicle exhaust, smoke, and other airborne contaminants within the station.
The project also represents an important investment in staff health, safety, and well-being, with officials adding that Valders firefighters routinely respond to emergencies and face a variety of hazards while serving their community.
Valders Fire Rescue thanked FEMA and the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, along with the team at Firehouse Grants, for their professional guidance and assistance throughout the grant application process.
