Less than a month after Eastern Wisconsin was boasting some of the lowest gas prices in the state, the script has flipped.
On September 2nd, Manitowoc County was listed as having the 18th lowest average price per gallon of regular unleaded fuel among the 72 Wisconsin counties, but after a 37-cent surge over the past week, that is no longer the case.
Manitowoc County’s $4.48 per gallon average is now the 12th highest in the state, according to the AAA Gas Prices website.
Meanwhile, Sheboygan County motorists are paying 35 cents more this week with an average of $4.40, just a few cents shy of the peak experienced in May.
Elsewhere around Eastern Wisconsin, Calumet County saw a 26-cent increase to $4.47, Outagamie County fuel is 34 cents more expensive than last week, coming in at $4.38, Brown County reported a 23-cent increase to $4.40, Kewaunee County is up 28 cents to $4.45, and Door County motorists are paying 29 cents more with an average of $4.46.
Meanwhile, the state average is up 30 cents to $4.40, and the national average rose 11 cents to $4.47.
