A 24-year-old man is behind bars in Racine County after a young child found a loaded gun and accidentally shot himself in the leg.
Pleasant Prairie police responded to a home on Green Bay Road Saturday afternoon, where officers located the injured seven-year-old boy.
Paramedics took the child to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The man was taken into custody on felony charges for leaving a loaded firearm within reach of a child.
Investigators say the incident remains under active investigation.
