The Francis Creek Fire Department unexpectedly got a new truck.
Fire Chief Nathan Schleis explained on the department’s Facebook page that a mechanical failure in their old tender 122 took it out of service.
Since then, the department has applied for multiple grants to replace it, but it takes time for the grant to be accepted and years for a new fire apparatus to be built.
Schleis says a local fire department was looking to downsize its trucks and got a deal on a used fire truck.
While the Francis Creek Fire Department didn’t say which other agency donated the truck, they thanked the donor for getting it up and running for the department.
That means the fire department is back to two tenders serving the community.
Schleis finishes by saying he hopes that they can still secure a grant for a new fire truck.
