In search of their first win of the season, the Manitowoc Lincoln football team traveled to take on Sheboygan South yesterday (September 17th).
Despite allowing their fewest points of the season, the Ships would still fall to the Redwings 12-10.
Lincoln set the tone early, marching down the field to take a 7-0 lead thanks to a Jaquan Foth rushing touchdown on the game’s opening drive.
Then the Ships’ defense showed their teeth and went into halftime leading 10-0.
However, that’s all Lincoln would score, allowing 12 unanswered points in the second half.
After their own impressive drive late in the fourth quarter, South QB Austen Dekker found receiver Jeremiah Appleton in the back left corner of the endzone for a go-ahead touchdown.
With just under two minutes remaining, Lincoln would get the ball back but were unable to find the game-winning score.
In the loss, Foth was still the star, leading the Ships with 117 yards on the ground and a score to go along with three grabs and 44 receiving yards.
In defeat, Lincoln moves to 0-5 on the year, 0-3 in the FRCC.
Next up will be a home date with Green Bay West next Saturday for Homecoming.
