Local and state officials are looking for public feedback regarding a potential passenger rail line in Sheboygan.
Mayor Ryan Sorenson has announced that the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is seeking public input as it continues to update the state’s rail plan.
In a public release, Mayor Sorenson stated, “Expanded passenger rail service could provide residents with additional transportation options while strengthening connections to neighboring communities and major destinations throughout the region. Improved rail connectivity also supports local businesses, strengthen tourism, and grows our local economy.”
This comes as the Mayor has stood as a strong advocate for bringing AMTRAK or passenger rail services to Sheboygan for many years.
To close, Mayor Sorenson added, “This is an opportunity for the people of Sheboygan to tell WisDOT why passenger rail matters to our community and why Sheboygan should be part of the conversation about Wisconsin’s transportation future.”
