Three cross-country teams from Manitowoc County were in Sheboygan County yesterday for the 40th Annual Crusader Challenge, hosted by Sheboygan Lutheran.
Ozaukee was crowned the champs in the boys division, with their 78 just one point better than Washington County Home School, and six better than Manitowoc Lutheran.
Mishicot finished 7th with 234 points, and Valders was 9th with 282. Philip Melso led the Lancers with his time of 17:43.8, good for 7th place, while Valders’ Kolten Schisel paced the Vikings in 36th place, and Greyson Armbruster’s 39th place finish was fastest among Mishicot runners.
As for the girls, Oostburg took home the team title, followed by Winnebago Lutheran and Ozaukee.
Valders was the top-performing Manitowoc County team, coming in 6th place, while Manitowoc Lutheran was 10th, and Mishicot finished 11th.
Paige Backus led the way for the Vikings, earning a 5th-place finish, while teammate Alyssa Wagner was 28 seconds behind, finishing in 8th.
Mishicot had the 10th- and 11th-place runners, with Hailey Dondlinger running 6.5 seconds faster than Juliana Doerner, while the Lancers were paced by Temperance Farmer and her 18th-place finish.
