Two Rivers residents raised several priorities during a workshop to help improve the city.
It was part of the Recreation Economy for Rural Communities, or RERC, program held at the Woodland Dunes Nature Center.
The RERC program was created in 2019 to provide planning assistance to small towns and rural communities to help them boost their outdoor recreation economy and revitalize main streets.
Two Rivers residents felt their priorities should include strengthening downtown and the harbor, improving access to natural and outdoor recreation, building stronger regional partnerships, advocating for local businesses, and supporting a strong, thriving, year-round economy.
The Cool City received a $7,500 Outdoor Recreation Roundtable grant to continue expanding those opportunities.
The city’s RERC Steering Committee, led by the Parks and Recreation Department, will turn the workshop’s ideas and conversations into an action plan with priorities and next steps.
