Work on a long-awaited park project in Two Rivers will begin this week.
The City of Two Rivers announced it will close Riverside Park as staff begins preparing for Phase 1 of the revitalization project.
City crews will demolish the existing nonfunctional restroom building, remove the existing skatepark, and remove much of the parking lot pavement.
Bidding for the Riverside Park revitalization will happen in 2027.
Improvements will include a drop-off turnaround area, parking, pathways, a fishing overlook deck, an ADA kayak launch, and shoreline restoration.
While the current skatepark is being removed, it will return with a new layout and amenities.
The Two Rivers City Council approved the Riverside Park Master Plan in 2024 after community input shaped the park’s long-term vision.
Funding to revitalize the park came from a Wisconsin DNR Stewardship grant, over $174,000 in capital borrowing, and grants from the West Foundation and the T-Mobile Hometown grant program.
