The USDA is opening a $6 million grant funding opportunity.
This grant will help support processing of invasive wild-caught catfish and improve food and agricultural supply.
This $6 million will be available through the Meat and Poultry Processing Expansion program, and this round of funding will support Phase 3 Round 2 of MPPEP.
Those eligible to apply are for-profit and nonprofit entities, producer-owned cooperatives and corporations, certified benefit corporations, Tribes and Tribal entities, state or local government entities, and other business types.
All entities must be domestically owned, and private entities must be independently owned and operated.
The applicants’ facilities must also be engaged in processing invasive wild-caught catfish and physically located and operating in the United States or its territories and have been in business for more than one year.
Any eligible project can receive grants from $50,000 to $2 million, and the applicant must be able to cover 20% of the total cost of the project.
