Two individuals have been honored in Sheboygan for their recent work with crime victims.
The Sheboygan Police Department has shared that the Coordinated Community Response Team has presented Community Impact Awards to Officer Kalen Buchner and Youth Justice Worker Taylor DuMez.
The department continues to say that Officer Buchner was nominated for the award after his response to a complex domestic violence situation.
They added, “His willingness to learn from others, ask the right questions, and approach the situation with patience and compassion ultimately helped the reporting party take steps toward holding their abuser accountable.”
Meanwhile, DuMez, who works for the Department of Health and Human Services, was recognized for providing exceptional trauma-informed care to a victim.
SPD lauded her work, stating, “The support, trust, and advocacy Taylor provided were instrumental in helping the victim feel comfortable enough to make a report to law enforcement.”
