Scammers are always trying to find new ways to separate you from your money, but sometimes they stick with tried-and-true techniques.
That is the case right now in Fond du Lac County, as fraudsters have been posing as Captain Chris Randall at the Sheriff’s Office.
This person or persons have been calling people, claiming there is a warrant out for their arrest.
They then provide a fraudulent phone number for victims to contact and provide a form of payment to avoid arrest.
The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office is ensuring residents know that “The Sheriff’s Office will never request payment via the telephone,” and is urging residents who receive such a call to “block the number and contact the Sheriff’s Office non-emergency line at 920-929-3390.”
