Wisconsin’s Sixth District congressman is encouraging young constituents to apply for a special award.
The Congressional Award is one of the highest honors Congress offers young Americans; it’s nonpartisan, voluntary, and noncompetitive.
Congressman Glenn Grothman says participants set personally challenging goals in four areas, including voluntary public service, personal development, physical fitness, and expedition and exploration.
No nomination or minimum GPA is required to participate, and young people can build the program around interests they already have or use it to try something new.
Participants can register beginning at 13 and a half but will stop at age 23.
Gold, silver, and bronze certificates and medals are available for those who want to try and earn them.
The Congressional Award was established in 1979 to recognize young people’s service and achievements.
