The Sheboygan Police Department is reminding residents of the importance of vehicle security.
Throughout the month of August, multiple vehicle thefts were reported in the City, with most being preventable.
In a majority of the cases, Sheboygan Police found that the keys had been left inside the vehicle, and the doors were unlocked.
It has been reported by multiple law enforcement agencies over the years that thieves tend to focus on the easiest targets with the highest likelihood of success.
So, an unlocked vehicle with the keys inside is like striking oil.
The Sheboygan Police Department stated, “We are asking our community to secure your property and remove valuables and keys from your vehicles – a simple solution to a preventable problem.”
