The reason behind Sheboygan’s decision to sever ties with Flock Safety has been revealed.
According to City documents for tomorrow’s City Council meeting, Flock attempted to sell off the data collected from the 15 cameras previously operated in Sheboygan to a third party.
The agenda continues to say, “In late July 2026 the Sheboygan Police Department was made aware of an email from Flock Safety’s account executive, dated March 24, 2026, offering to sell the Sheboygan Department of Public Works anonymized data for traffic volume, vehicle types and speed data, offering up to five years of data utilizing the existing 15 cameras.”
The Sheboygan Police Department adds that it “was not aware of and did not consent to the sale of anonymized or other data…and believes that such conduct on the part of Flock Safety constitutes a breach of the terms of the ‘Master Services Agreement.’”
For this reason, Police Chief Kurt Zempel and City Administrator Casey Bradley will be formally asking the Council to cancel its contract with Flock Safety tomorrow evening.
