The City of Plymouth wants to inform the public on the upcoming November election referendum question.
The City and its Police Department will be posing a referendum question to voters, asking for a permanent $600,000 increase to the public safety budget, paid for entirely by raising residents’ property taxes.
To better inform residents on why they feel this is necessary, Plymouth will be holding three public information sessions to provide further details on the matter.
The first two sessions will take place at City Hall on September 22nd and October 8th, with the first starting at 6:00 p.m. and the second being held at 11:00 a.m.
Meanwhile, the third and final info session is set to take place at Generations on October 29th at 8:00 a.m.
City officials note that this budget increase is needed to add three additional police officers to Plymouth’s police force, which has not increased since the mid-90s despite steady population growth in that same time.
