Authorities are investigating after a nearly seven-hour standoff ended with a man dead and a woman injured in Burlington.
Officers were called to a residence Saturday morning for a reported assault and the woman escaped before being taken to a hospital.
Officials say a 43-year-old man barricaded himself inside with access to multiple firearms, prompting authorities to issue a shelter in place.
SWAT officers and crisis negotiators responded before authorities entered the home and found the man dead.
Police noted there is no ongoing threat to the community.
