The Manitowoc County Fair hosts a Celebrity Cream Puff Challenge every year, and this year the winner wasn’t who everyone expected.
Ben Peters has been the fastest cream puff eater for the past two years, but this year his streak came to an end.
Christ Muchowski, the Vice President of Manitowoc Tool & Manufacturing, took home the gold medal and cream puff crown.
He was told last week that he would be competing in this competition, and with so little time to prepare, he didn’t come in with any sort of technique.
“No technique at all, just eat as fast as you can,” he said.
Despite this, he was able to down his entire cream puff in just three minutes and twenty-three seconds.
Chris plans to come back next year to defend his title, and next year’s competitors are advised to start training now, because he plans to show no mercy.
He said with pride, “I don’t have any advice; you better be able to eat fast because I’m not slowing down.”
Other local celebrities that competed in this competition include Elizabeth Dvorak, who is Manitowoc County Fairest of the Fair and crowned Chris as winner, and Lee Douglas, who recently retired from Seehafer Broadcasting.
This was his last time competing in the Cream Puff Challenge, but he didn’t leave empty-handed.
Lew E the Clown was the officiator for this event, and he gifted Lee a pair of clown shoes for his last hurrah.
Chris is honored to have beaten these two local celebrities, along with the nine other competitors.
“It’s a Celebrity Cream Puff Eating Championship; now I’m at the top of that list,” he remarked.
The Celebrity Cream Puff Challenge occurs annually at the Manitowoc County fair, and next year we all get to see if Chris will be able to defend his title as the Cream Puff Champion.
The County Fair still has a full list of events for the rest of the weekend that you won’t want to miss, so to see these events or find more information, visit manitowoccountywi.gov.
