
The defending two-time state champion Manitowoc Lutheran girls’ volleyball team split four matches in a season-opening 12-team tournament in Appleton.
The Lancers opened with a straight-set victory over Wrightstown (25-21 and 25-23), then fell to Appleton East in straight sets (26-28 and 17-25).
The Lancers bounced back, defeating Little Chute in straight sets (25-18 and 25-8), then lost to Brillion in straight sets (24-26 and 8-25).
Manitowoc Lutheran returns to action Friday as they participate in the Sun Prairie East Volleyball Showcase that runs through Saturday.
