A Manitowoc park that was closed for renovations has reopened.
The Manitowoc Skatepark at Miracles Park on South 35th Street had been closed since last June for renovations, including new ramps and other skating elements.
The city’s Parks and Recreation Department says upgrades were made to some of the wooden ramps, which were first built back in 2005.
The project was funded by a grant from the West Foundation, with additional support from the City of Manitowoc and through funds raised by the Manitowoc Skatepark Preservation Project.
Parks and Recreation Director Brock Wetenkamp said the city is excited to welcome skaters back and called the park a “great recreational asset for our community, and we appreciate everyone’s patience while the work was being done.”
Park users are reminded to follow the rules and safety guidelines while using the facility, including wearing appropriate safety gear such as a helmet.
There is a rather large skating culture in Manitowoc, which is one based on inclusion.
