Several local volleyball teams kicked off their seasons yesterday.
Manitowoc Lutheran, the two-time defending state champions, picked up right where they left off with a 2-0 win over Little Chute at the Xavier Invite.
The Lancers dominated the whole way, taking set one 25-19 and set two 25-9.
Also at the Xavier Invite, Brillion split its games, taking down Ashwaubenon 2-0 before being swept by Fox Valley Lutheran 2-0, while Howards Grove continued its reign of domination with a 2-0 win over Little Chute.
Meanwhile, in Stevens Point, Reedsville fell in a heartbreaker to Rhinelander.
The Panthers took set one 25-21, but lost the other two sets 25-22 and 15-13.
