The 2026 high school football season begins tonight, as do several female sports seasons.
Starting on the gridiron, season openers include Manitowoc Lincoln hosting De Pere, Brillion entertaining Sturgeon Bay, Mishicot visiting Oconto, Chilton on the road for Crivitz, Bay Port opening at Middleton and defending Division Two champion West De Pere at Sun Prairie East.

Friday night openers have Manitowoc Lutheran at Roncalli, Two Rivers travels to Marinette, Howards Grove hosts Valders, Reedsville travels to Kohler to meet Kohler/ Sheboygan Lutheran/ Christian, Kiel is at Lake Country Lutheran, Sheboygan Falls entertains Oostburg, Sheboygan North is at Port Washington, Green Bay Southwest hosts Sheboygan South, Kewaunee is in Appleton North to battle Fox Valley Lutheran and Denmark opens in New London to battle the Bulldogs.
Manitowoc Lutheran and Roncalli will air on “WOMT 100” and WOMTRadio.com starting at 6:45 p.m.
Meanwhile, the Manitowoc Lincoln girls’ golf team begins year two under Head Coach Chris Grodek as the Ships and Kiel Raiders co-host the inaugural Gumby Golf Classic at Autumn Ridge.
Each team in the 8-team field had to raise a minimum of $250 to participate, with all proceeds to be donated to “Gumby’s Club for a Cure” in the fight to defeat cancer.
The competition began at 8:00 a.m.
The Manitowoc Lincoln girls’ tennis team begins its season today at a 10-team invite hosted by Ashwaubenon High School.
Matches will be played at Green Bay Preble with action scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
The Manitowoc Lincoln girls swim will begin their season at Bayport with an eight-team Invitational that includes, along with the host Pirates and Ships, teams from Pulaski, Neenah, Notre Dame, De Pere, Appleton North and Ashwaubenon.
Swimming is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
