The Friends of the Manitowoc River Watershed are offering a unique kayaking experience.
The group’s Moonlight Paddle on the Manitowoc River takes place next Friday (August 28th) from 7:45 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., with a make-up date of Saturday, August 29th.
Kayakers will launch at Lower Henry Schutte Park before paddling 3 miles to the YMCA beach, located along Lake Michigan.
The Friends of Manitowoc River Watershed call the urban portion of the water trail “especially beautiful at sunset.”
They also add that entering into the “historic shipbuilding section, paddling under multiple bridges, past the WWII submarine USS Cobia, and finishing where the mouth of the Manitowoc River enters Maritime Bay is an experience not to be missed.”
Anyone interested is asked to provide their own transportation between the start and finish of the paddle.
They also ask kayakers to have some lights so you can be seen as the sun sets.
