Authorities are investigating the death of a Columbia County inmate.
The man died last week after being arrested on suspicion of operating while impaired in Columbus and was later taken to the Columbia County jail.
Officials say the 56-year-old had to be put in a safety restraint chair because he was being uncooperative and resistant.
A jail physician later checked on the suspect, reporting no issues, but he was found unresponsive several minutes later.
Columbia County mentioned it reviewed footage and saw nobody else enter the room between the time he was cleared and when he was found.
