WOMT radio received an official commendation from the City of Manitowoc for 100 years of local service.
During last night’s council meeting, Mayor Justin Nickels read the document calling WOMT a “trusted and reliable source of local news, information, and entertainment for generations of listeners.”
The commendation from the mayor also says that WOMT demonstrated a strong commitment to community engagement by highlighting local stories, announcing high school sports, supporting civic engagement, promoting local businesses, and providing a platform for community voices.
Seehafer Broadcasting President Mark Seehafer says his father, Don Seehafer, was around for about 70 years of WOMT and wanted to start something local.
Mark told the council the station is, “Very local, we’re live. We’re into the community. We try to serve everybody in this county. And we’ll continue to do that as long as it (WOMT) stays in the family.”
WOMT radio has been hosting contests and events around the community in honor of 100 years of live, local radio.
