A Manitowoc Alderman who passed away one year ago is now forever immortalized inside City Hall.
Mayor Justin Nickels announced that the newly upgraded conference room will forever be known as the Jim Brey Conference Room in honor of the man who dedicated 30+ years of his life to civil service.
Brey passed away on August 12th, 2025, and his wife Jodi took over his seat on the Council, which he had held since 1992.
Nickels said in the announcement, “Jim attended more meetings than anyone I’ve ever served with—occasionally ones he wasn’t even required to be at. Now, with his name above the door, he won’t just attend every meeting—he’ll preside over them with a perfect attendance forever.”
