Voting booths stand ready for use in a U.S. election.
Today is Wisconsin’s 2026 Partisan Primary Election.
Voters can hit the polls starting at 7:00 a.m. and cast their ballot for several contested races with candidates running for the same party ticket until 8:00 p.m.
The most watched race in Wisconsin is for governor, as four Democrats will face off looking to become the party’s nominee.
They include State Representative Francesa Hong, Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley, Madison State Senator Kelda Roys, and former Wisconsin Department of Administration Secretary Joel Brennen.
However, candidates who dropped out, including Missy Hughes, Sara Rodriguez, and Mandela Barnes, will also appear on the ballot.
They will face the winner of the Republican primary between 7th District Congressman Tom Tiffany and Candidate Andrew Manske.
There will also be a Republican primary for Lieutenant Governor, as David Varnam and Will Martin face off.
A contested race is also taking place for Wisconsin’s next Secretary of State and State Treasurer. For Secretary of State, four Republicans, including Brayden Myer from Manitowoc County, are facing off while the Democrats only have one candidate running.
But two Democrats are running for the nomination to try and become Wisconsin’s next State Treasurer.
They include Yee Leng Xiong and Dylan Ray Helmenstine.
There will be only one contested race for a Wisconsin Senate District in Manitowoc County.
The race in District 1 will have four Republicans facing off, including Nic Cravillion, Barbara Bittner, Jacob VandenPlas and Katie Baney.
Only one candidate from either party filed to run in Assembly Districts 25, 26, 27, 2, and 3 along with Wisconsin’s 9th Senate District.
There will be a contested partisan primary for Wisconsin’s Sixth Congressional District. Amanda Bell and Brad Smith will face off for the Democrats.
The winner will take on Incumbent Glenn Grothman.
In Manitowoc County, there are two uncontested races as Dan Hartwig looks to retain his position as Manitowoc County Sheriff. Angela Linderud is also running to remain Manitowoc County’s Clerk of Courts.

The City of Manitowoc also reminds residents in District 7 that their polling location is at the St. Francis of Assisi Parish Office and not at Open Bible Baptist Church.
