Brookfield police are explaining why officers stopped the wrong vehicle at gunpoint.
Authorities explain this came after a Flock camera alerted them to a vehicle connected to a Milwaukee homicide; however, it was not.
The traffic stop happened on I-94 in Waukesha County before officers contacted Milwaukee police.
The Milwaukee Police Department says an alert for the wanted vehicle was not removed from the Flock system after the vehicle and its occupants were no longer needed.
Brookfield Police Chief Christopher Garcia says his officers acted based on the factually incorrect information they had at the time.
This is just the latest negative incident involving Flock cameras in the State of Wisconsin, including police officers stalking ex-partners, preemptive use to stop alleged crimes, and now, pulling firearms on unsuspecting and innocent residents, which have raised major concerns among Wisconsinites.
