A historic site in Sheboygan County will teach the public the difference between jams and jellies this weekend.
The event, appropriately named “Jams and Jellies,” takes place tomorrow (August 8th) and Sunday (August 9th) at the Wade House off State Highway 23 in Greenbush.
Costumed interpreters will produce and can the flavorful treats for visitors as they learn the recipes that date back to 1858.
Wade House staff say the biggest difference between jelly and jam is the process in which they are made.
Jams are usually made with whole fruit, while jellies are made from fruit juices.
The Wade House site season extends through November 1st, Wednesday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. General admission throughout the regular season is $15 for adults, $13 for seniors, $8 for children, and free for children five and under.
Admission also includes a tour of the new Wesley W. Jung Carriage Museum.
