Lakeland University has received major funding to help veterans.
The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) has awarded a total of $550,000 in grant funding to nonprofits across the state that are dedicated to serving vets and their families.
That includes Lakeland, which received $53,876 to create the Vetrepreneur Conference, which will serve 50 veteran entrepreneurs with training, networking, access to financial supports, pitch competitions, and ongoing technical support.
On this cycle of grant funding, WDVA Secretary James Bond noted, “These grants help fund emergency assistance, mental health support, housing, business training, and so much more. I’m proud of the partnership WDVA has with these nonprofits and grateful for everything they do on behalf of those who served.”
Other area organizations receiving grant funding from the WDVA included Fox Valley Technical College, Vets & Friends of Wisconsin in Appleton, and the Fox Valley Veterans Council.
